What's yr policy on removing links if the author asks you to? I ask because of this.

Unlike Metafandom, we're leaning towards *not* removing links, simply because the discussion doesn't make sense if the record of what happened isn't preserved. Think of the early stages of the Elizabeth Bear racefail, where it was getting very hard to keep track of things because posts and comments were being deleted left and right. Obviously people can delete or lock posts if they want, but we think it's important to have something pointing to where they were.

I agree hard.

Racefail posts are not fanfic meta.

On nearly every platform, there are plenty of controls at the user's option to prevent comments from strangers.

For example, on my LJ/DW, all responses NOT from my friends are screened.

That way I can decide if I want to unscreen them and engage, or not unscreen them.

I understand yr point, but these are 2 cents you certainly didn't ask for:

I think you shouldn't be willing to remove links.

Wank gets preserved, why not Race imbroglios?

In which case, we might make a special list of people who've demanded to have their links removed, and spotlight them even more than linking to a post (which can be locked) would do

Oh, well then. You are certainly made of equal parts of win and awesome. lol Thanks. 8D
